Bob Mathes

Bob grew up in Tremont, Illinois. After graduating from Illinois Central College with his associate’s degree in agriculture business, he transferred to Illinois State University to pursue his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. While there, he met his wife, Susan. After graduating from ISU in 1984, Bob and Susan got married, and Bob worked in the ag field for 10 years in various jobs. In 1994, Bob and Susan felt called to the Easter Seals camp on Lake Bloomington. So, their family moved there while Bob worked as the Superintendent of Facilities for 6 years. He then started working for State Farm. After a 23-year career, he retired in May 2023. Susan and Bob and their family have been attending Christ Church since 1999. They have seven children and 6 grandkids. Before coming on staff at Christ Church, Bob has served as a deacon, in men’s ministry, and on various other committees. In Bob’s spare time, he can be found spoiling his grandkids, gardening, and building projects in his woodshop.
