Captivated by the Gospel
In September 1989, Willowbeech Presbyterian Church (a church plant with help from Grace Presbyterian Church of Peoria) held its first service at the corner of Willow and Beech Streets in Normal.
On May 17, 1992, the church was officially organized in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), an evangelical and reformed network of churches. Soon after, Willowbeech became Christ Church.
In 2013, Christ Church adopted the mission statement of cultivating gospel transformation, which combines theology with a heart for God to change lives. The gospel guides every facet of our church: from nursery, youth, and adult ministries, down to the operations of our budget, and up to leadership.
Christ Church has continued to grow, yet our heart has remained the same—we are still captivated by the gospel. We desire to be transformed by it and love others well because of it.
