Missions
God’s goal in creation and redemption is our missionary goal because our God is a missionary God.
We want to be involved in Kingdom work by being a congregation who is aware of the world and those who don’t know Jesus. We support missionaries who are located around the world and stateside through finances, prayer, and long-term caring. Throughout the year, we spend time concentrating on the global task, the need, and our response. We realize that by God’s hand we are in Normal, Illinois, and can be faithful to love parts of the world we’ll never see with our own eyes. With the resources we have, we desire to be involved in the Gospel spreading to all peoples!
Why?
God has been in active pursuit of restoring our hearts to him from the moment Adam and Eve accepted the Serpent’s lie and severed the relationship with our loving Creator. Jesus’ covenantal love for us—as modeled in emptying himself to compassionately engage, serve, and ransom us. He is glorified in permanently mending our relationship with the Father and beckons us to love one another. In God’s grace alone, we find freedom from the Enemy’s lies, freedom from sin, and freedom to love well. Our grace-filled experience of adoption through Jesus commissions all of us to cast our attention on a loving God. We share and enable others to share this experience with the people around us and around the world because of our God’s redemptive, missionary heart for all people.
