Local Outreach

The Lord has generously blessed us with skills and interests to be used for the sake of His desires in and outside the church building. Christ Church has made it a priority to affirm and resource the individual and families’ sense of God’s calling in our church and around the community. In response to God’s work in leading His people we are humbly involved in the following ministries and organizations on a regular basis:

  • McLean County Nursing Home leading Sunday chapel services each week and  providing pastoral care to the elderly.
  • Financial Peace University. Each year we offer classes and personal financial coaching to assist individuals and families in the wise use of their finances.
  • Ithaka Fellowship. Ithaca Fellowship is an agrarian center for Christian growth and study in Gridley, Illinois.
  • Living Alternatives: A Pregnancy Resource Center. For several years we have had a number of people from our community who participate as volunteers and board members. We have had the privilege of hosting several events to promote the goals of the pregnancy resource center at our site at Shelbourne and Linden.
  • Missions Perspectives. In 2010 as well as in the past we have had the privilege of hosting Missions Perspectives and have sent a number from our community to the classes.
  • Local Schools. We regularly participate and serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Recently the Lord has given us the opportunity to serve every student and teacher at Fairview Elementary School of the McLean County Unit 5 school district.
  • Jesus House. Since its beginning Christ Church has served and resourced the efforts of the Jesus Coffee House to assist the poor.
  • Bible Study Fellowship. Many from the Christ Church community serve as leaders and participants in the local men’s and women’s Bible Study Fellowship meetings.
  • Adoptions. Christ Church has many families who have participated in local, stateside, and international adoptions. This year we have the honor of hosting a conference to bring awareness to God’s heart for the fatherless among us and around the world. Not Forsaken is a site that has come about as fruit from the conference. There you can find testimonies and other practical ways to get involved in God’s work.
  • Biblical Conflict Resolution. We have trained coaches and mediators to come alongside individuals, couples, and/or organizations to assist in biblical reconciliation.
  • One Touch Soccer Camp. Using the sport of soccer, this three day summer camp reaches out to 6 to 12 year old children in our neighborhood to teach the fundamentals of soccer and the good news of Jesus Christ in a fun and safe environment.
  • TreatFest. A free neighborhood gathering for families to enjoy a fun and safe Fall evening together. With 30+ “Trunk Stops” and a variety of games, closing out the evening with a move in the lawn, the event seeks to cultivate relationships in a fragmented culture.
  • International Students Incorporate (ISI) at Illinois State University. International Students, Inc. exists to share Christ’s love with international students and to equip them for effective service in cooperation with the local church and others.
  • CRU at Illinois State University.ISU Cru is a student-led movement of Christians at Illinois State.
